It was first introduced in 1997 and has undergone three generations of updates and redesigns. As a result, the M-Class is now known as the GLE-Class, but it remains a popular luxury SUV known for its high-quality interior, strong performance, and advanced safety features.

The first generation of the M-Class was produced from 1997 to 2005. In the year 2006 to 2011 second generation was produced, including updates such as a more modern exterior design and a new seven-speed automatic transmission. Finally, the third generation was introduced in 2011 and included further updates such as improved fuel efficiency, a new infotainment system, and more advanced safety features.
